July 8, 2013

Hey Everybody! Just another normal week down here in Northern Mexico! haha 4th of July was cool. We had exchanges. I was with Elder Joj. Who doesnt speak english. Which is fine becasue I speak spanish. We had a long day. We biked about 5 miles out and his tire popped. So we walked our bikes back home, and then we walked 6 miles back out! Worked all day, skipped lunch and dinner, walked back home, and finally ate around 9. then exchanged back and we got on the roof of the other Elders' apartment and watched the fireworks. Never watched fireworks with just 3 other guys.. haha. Saturday was FULL of service. At 7 am, we went to go help the sisters clean one of their investigators backyard. Then at 11 we went to go help a member move furnature around. then at 1, we went and helped a member install 3 new doors on a house. which went to about 5. then we ran home, literally. and got ready for dinner at 6. we got in a spitball war with the family. haha It was super fun. Then we went to the swap meet. we walked around for about an hour, talked to like 7 people and handed out 3 Libro de Mormons. We got a new ward mission leader yesterday. thats my third one in this area already. haha Do I really stink that bad? Alright I think Thats all i've got for this week. Love you all! stay safe! have a good week! -Elder Alston

Holy cow its july. that makes no sense. 3 months under my belt. I'm a seasoned vet! ha not.

So this week, we helped Ernesto ( one of our investigators) build a wall! He's a construction worker, and he needed a hand, so, why not? lets see, what else exciting this week... OH! Friday night we had a branch party! Volleyball, food, just being social. It was way fun. As we were about to leave, Presidente Farius ( branch pres) came in and told us that there was a homeless guy that snuck in and was sleeping in one of the rooms. so while he stayed in there and called the cops, he wanted us to do a sweep of the rest of the building. So Elder Peterson and I went around checking all the rooms and doors. haha that was a little nerve wracking. Then Saturday, we set up a booth at the swap meet and talked to people, handing out pamphlets and books! It was cool seeing how many people actually stopped and talked.

Yesterday we had a monsoon. Nothing huge. but enough! haha winds were crazy, tons of lightning, huge dust storm, then the rain hit for about 10 minutes. we walked outside for probably about 15 seconds, came inside, and we were DRENCHED. haha it was awesome. We got new missionaries in our district! Elder reneau and sister stewart. Sister Stewart says she knows Russ, Pam, and kids from Germany. She lived on the base the same time they did. Her dad is a contractor. She says they might not know her though. Small world eh? haha ok well I have to go get some food and what not so I can survive another week in this oven of a state haha;) 111 degrees today! Love you all! -elder alston

June 25, 2013

Well here we are again. Gathered together to discuss the fruits of our labors. haha just kidding, whats up y'all? how's everybody doing? still tickin? Grandpa, I really wish I had the 22-250 down here.... I've seen a fair share of coyotes.. and I almost hit one on the way to the library today. haha. I know where I'm coming for coyotes now. they're all in the AZ!

ok, serious time. My other little sister Millie. I found out Thursday night that she got to meet Heavenly Father on Tuesday morning.  I taped her picture in the front of My spanish book of mormon. Now she is always with me. Now I have lots of companions! Elder Peterson, the spirit, Tyler, and Millie. When I first found out, I cried myself to sleep. But when I woke up, I felt 10,000 times better because I KNOW she is healthy now. Just think... She's probably got so many little friends already up there, playing, laughing, singing. She will be missed down here, but guess what? We are all going to see her again. Isn't that plan fantastic!? He knew what he was doing when He made it.

Well, we had transfers today! President said that less than 10 companionships made it through this transfer untouched. We were one of them! haha SO grateful for that!

I got to go the the Air museum last Monday! That was way cool! Sorry I'm not like Sister Alston with my emails. haha I do what I can... Thank you all for the support and love! You are amazing! never forget that! Love you all! -Elder T. Alston
